he #1 Side Hustle Productivity Killer (and How to Fix It) 🚀

Hey there!

One of the best pieces of advice for side hustlers is to block off a set time each day to work on your business. Maybe it’s two hours at night after the kids are asleep, or an early morning session before work.

I’ve done this for years, and it works—as long as you actually use that time to work.

And that’s where things get tricky.

The Productivity Trap That Kills Your Progress

If you’ve ever blocked out time for your business and then found yourself:

📌 Scrolling YouTube instead of writing content

📌 Tweaking your website design instead of launching your product

📌 Answering emails instead of doing deep work

Side note: One of the silly things that has been distracting me lately is "Should I Open It, Or Should I Keep It Sealed?" -- an addictive Pokemon shorts channel from my friend Pat. I don't even care about Pokemon. What the heck am I doing? LOL

Anyway, the point is… you’re not alone.

I used to fall into this trap all the time. It turns out, this kind of busywork isn’t just random distraction—it’s actually a form of procrastination. And the worst part? It feels productive, even though it’s not.

For me, the root cause was fear and uncertainty. Sometimes, growing a business means tackling things outside your comfort zone. And when you don’t have a clear next step, it’s way easier to do something (even if it’s pointless) instead of tackling what really moves the needle.

The Fix: Remove the Guesswork

The best way I’ve found to stop this kind of procrastination? Decide exactly what you’re going to work on before your work session starts.

For me, Motion software has been a game-changer. It literally tells me what to work on, based on my project lists and schedule. There’s no time wasted thinking, “Okay…what should I do now?” No temptation to get distracted. Just a clear roadmap for getting things done.

If you struggle with staying focused during your work sessions, I highly recommend making sure you know what you are support to be working on at all times. Not sure how to do that? Give Motion a try.

Here’s to making the most of your time,

Please Read My Affiliate Disclaimer:

I believe in affiliate marketing because it gives me a way to help people profitably. From time to time, I will promote, endorse, or suggest products and/or services for sale that are not my products. I'm pretty picky and my recommendation is always based on my personal belief that the product will provide excellent value to you and your business. In most cases, I will be compensated via a commission or gift when you decide to purchase that product based on my recommendation. In some cases, I might receive the product for free for review purposes, or just to use. In many cases, I promote products that I actually use in my business (like ConvertKit, the service that sent you this email). That ConvertKit link is an affiliate link. If you sign up for ConvertKit using that link, I get a commission. Make sense?

Here's a really important thing:

Please don't interpret anything in this email as some sort of promise or guarantee of your future earnings. My results are not typical. We've been at this for more than a decade. You could say I am an expert when it comes to online business. This means I have an advantage over most people. I can tell you this -- success takes hard work. Nothing in life or business comes easy or with any guarantees.

By following my recommendations you always agree to do your OWN due diligence before making any purchases, whether we recommend them or not. Never, EVER purchase anything that you cannot afford. Avoid purchasing products that do not have a clearly stated Guarantee, or that promises quick or ridiculous results. And always wear your seatbelt. And take your vitamins.
